Getting Started Guide For Caller X

Welcome to the Caller X Getting Started Guide! This is a quick tour of the different areas of Caller X and how to configure them to get your phone ringing.

Caller X is a Fake Call Generator that you can configure to ring any time you like.  It simulates all aspects of the phone call, from the phone screen to allowing you to have an interactive conversation.  Also, since it is not a real call, it doesn't use up any of your minutes.

Let's get started. The first thing you would want to do is create your Caller Phone Book.  Choose Caller Setup from the menu.  This is where you will define all of your fake callers.

Choose New Caller from the menu to bring up the New Caller Dialog.  Besides entering the name and phone number of this caller, you can give him a unique ringtone, just like in your regular Address Book.

Once you have your Fake Caller defined, you can record some audio conversation segments and associate them to this caller.

Use the wheel/track ball to select a particular caller, or choose Conversation Audio from the menu.  Notice that you are now brought to the Record Caller screen and there are 5 available segments.

By default, there is only a single "Common Conversation" that all your fake callers will share.  Additionally, the total recording time for this common conversation is 10 seconds.

Go ahead and highlight a segment, then press the left shoulder button.  This will bring up the Record dialog and you can speak into the microphone to record a conversation snippet.

Since you will be playing these segments back during your fake conversation, you may actually want someone else to record these segments so that it won't sound like you are talking to yourself.

10 seconds too short? Want to have a different set of conversation segments for each fake caller in your phone book?  If you have a device with an external SD card like the Hiptop3/Sidekick3, you can record your audio to the SD card.

Just check the "Save to external SD card" checkbox and a unique conversation will be saved for this caller on the external storage card.

Once you have all of your fake callers configured, you can go and schedule some fake calls.  Choose Scheduler from the menu to take you to the Scheduler view.

Select New Scheduled Call from the menu.  Give your scheduled call a description, choose the caller, and the time you want the fake call to ring.

There are also options to simulate an urgent call by ringing twice, or set it up as a wake up call.  A scheduled wake up call will call you at the same time every day.

From the Scheduler view, you have the option to quickly turn the scheduled calls on or off.

Simply highlight the scheduled call and press the right shoulder button to toggle the call on or off.

You're all set.  In the main Phone view, when in a fake call, make sure you hold the phone with a finger discreetly over the left shoulder button.

When you are pretending to talk to the caller and you want the fake caller to speak his/her next audio segment, simply press the left shoulder button.

This allows you to control the flow of the conversation without trying to time your side of the conversation to match some preset gaps.
